Gloria’s 14th Annual Food Shelf Shortest Marathon on September 19

Gloria's 14th Annual Food Shelf Shortest Marathon is a ONE BLOCK run created by Gloria Carpenter to benefit the White Bear Area Food Shelf. Saturday, September 19, 2026

The community is invited to lace up their running shoes for a one-of-a-kind fundraiser as Gloria’s 14th Annual Food Shelf Shortest Marathon returns to White Bear Lake.

This lighthearted and family-friendly event, created by Gloria Carpenter, features a “marathon” that spans just one block, bringing people together for fun, food, and philanthropy—all in support of the White Bear Area Food Shelf.

“This event is all about community, laughter, and making a real difference—even in just one block,” organizers shared.

Participants will gather at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, September 19 on Bald Eagle Avenue (between 2nd and 3rd Street) to enjoy pre-race treats, including White Castle sliders and lemonade from Raising Cane’s. The race begins promptly at 11:00 a.m., complete with a mid-course water stop to keep runners hydrated. Following the race, participants can celebrate at the finish line with coffee and donut holes.

Over the past 13 years, the event has raised more than $140,000 to support local hunger relief efforts.

Registration is $40 per participant ($15 for children under 12) and includes food, refreshments, and a commemorative event t-shirt for those who register by September 9. Proceeds benefit the White Bear Area Food Shelf, helping provide critical food support to neighbors in need.
