Looking for a fun and active way to serve your community? Join us for donation sorting, food stocking, greeting neighbors, collecting “food rescue” from local grocery stores, or even maintaining our garden this spring. Learn more about these roles, see the available slots, and sign up at www.whitebearfoodshelf.org/volunteer. Here are a few of our current needs:
Volunteer at our Curbside Pick-Up Market!
Volunteers are needed for Stocker, Greeter, Floater, and Market Shopper roles during the Curbside Pick-Up Market hours. These positions are shift-based and you can sign up for multiple shifts to create your own schedule!
Help Us Sort Donations!
The Food Shelf receives food donations from food drives, local grocery stores, and supporters in our community. Help us sort and check these items for freshness before they are stocked in our warehouse for use in markets.
Support in-person shopping at The Community Market!
The Food Shelf rescues food at nine local grocery stores to provide fresh food in the Community Market. Help us sort and check these items for freshness before they are placed in the market for that day’s shopping. As neighbors come to shop, welcome them into the market, answer questions or assist with the simple checkout process.
Seasonal opportunities for Volunteers!
Free Produce Markets – Volunteers help setup and distribute free fresh produce from mid-June through end of September!
Garden – Help plant, weed and harvest from our very own food shelf garden.
Kid Packs – During the school year, pack bags of single-serve food items for students to bring home for the weekend.
Outreach – Spread the word about the food shelf at community events!
