In a year marked by federal funding cuts and shifting foundation priorities, our community is facing growing challenges—and growing need. The food shelf has seen a 40% reduction in the amount of food available through the The Emergency Food Assistance Program (TEFAP), a $300,000 value of food, due to Executive Order funding cuts. This federal program purchases fresh produce, nuts, and meat from American farmers and distributes them free to food shelves through their food bank partners. Three of the food shelf’s major foundation partners are in the process of reorganizing their grant programs and funding is currently on hold. Reductions in SNAP, Medicare, and Medicaid and the cost of food continuing to rise will push those with limited budget margins to the edge causing them to seek assistance in the coming months.
In the face of these changes, one local business has stepped up in a big way.
We’re thrilled to announce a $100,000 matching gift challenge to support the White Bear Area Food Shelf. Every new or increased donation will be matched dollar for dollar, up to $100,000—doubling your impact and helping us meet the rising demand for food support in our community.
This match couldn’t come at a more critical time. As more families turn to local food shelves for help, your gift ensures we can continue to provide fresh, nourishing food with dignity and compassion.
Together, we can make sure no one in our community goes hungry. Donate today and double your impact.
Match Details:
- Qualifying donations for the match must be received between 8/1/25-12/31/25.
- Amount applied towards the match will be the new or increased portion of total giving between FY24 (10/1/23-9/30/24) and FY25 (10/1/24-9/30/25). The White Bear Area Food Shelf fiscal year runs from Oct 1 to Sept 30.
- For example, a donor gives a $500 donation on October 10, 2025 and that same person gave $200 in FY24. If their FY25 total giving = $600 ($100 given 8/5/25 and the $500 given 10/10/25) then the amount qualifying for match would be $400.
