JOB SUMMARY

The Market Coordinator will lead market programs that are welcoming and fulfilling for all neighbors. This role will lead, coordinate, and adapt our curbside market and delivery programs in providing nutritious, culturally resonant, and abundant food and support to our community and the greater region. The Market Coordinator will supervise a dedicated crew of volunteers and create a rewarding experience for those who are providing direct services to our neighbors. This person will infuse a spirit of positivity into each day.

TYPE – Full-time, Non-Exempt (32-40 hours)

JOB DESCRIPTION

Champion the Curbside Market to create a welcoming, calm atmosphere for all shoppers

  • Oversee all logistics to ensure organized implementation of the market, i.e. signage, transportation flow, record-keeping, communications, shopping process and flow, supplies, etc.
  • Understand and incorporate neighbors’ desired experience, food, and support from the food shelf.
  • Collaborate with Food Systems Coordinator and Community Resources Coordinator to deliver programming that matches neighbors’ preferences and needs.
  • Train and supervise market volunteers
  • Create an engaging, positive experience for volunteers in a fast-paced environment
  • Ensure accurate records and statistics are maintained.
  • Conduct regular evaluations of the program to improve service

Oversee the Delivery Program

  • Collaborate with vendors and partners to develop and maintain a registration and delivery system.
  • Assist neighbors in enrolling in the program.
  • Collaborate with Food Systems Coordinator to ensure a variety of quality products.
  • Train and supervise market volunteers, ensuring a positive experience.
  • Ensure accurate records and statistics are maintained.
  • Conduct regular evaluations of the program to improve service.

HOURS – Flexible schedule required. | Monday and Tuesday nights until 7:30 pm

Qualifications

  • Strong commitment to the mission of the White Bear Area Food Shelf in our drive to provide healthy, choice-based experiences for all neighbors struggling with food insecurity
  • Dynamic individual who thrives in high-energy and direct service settings that call for flexibility and on-your-feet problem solving
  • A team player that embodies three values: Humility, food is a basic human right, all people deserve compassion and respect
  • Capacity to meet the daily challenges of a physically demanding position (e.g. repeated lifting of over 50 pounds, on your feet majority of the day, pallet jack operation, maneuvering of heavily loaded carts)
  • Person of high integrity who can successfully communicate and receive ideas, questions, and challenges in a highly team-based work environment
  • Enjoys working with many types of people and serving a diverse community
  • Strong work ethic, takes initiative, self-directed
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Work includes operating in all kinds of weather
  • One to two years of nonprofit, warehouse, grocery store, or retail experience
  • Preferred: Working knowledge of any of the following languages-Spanish, Hmong, Vietnamese, Mandarin, Somali.

Salary – $20 – 22 per hour
