The Food Shelf Team is Expanding!

The Food Shelf is hiring for two positions, Operations Manager and Mobile Market Coordinator, in addition to the Community Resource Coordinator featured in the May 25, 2021 post. Applications for all positions are open until June 20, 2021.

Operations Manager – 

JOB SUMMARY: The Operations Manager oversees the daily operations of finance and administration for the entire organization. This role provides accurate and timely financial and agency records and supervises 2 coordinators. The Operations Manager plays a key role in continuing to grow our organization and positively impact our vision to end food insecurity in the White Bear Area.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

Finance

  • Manages deposits, payroll, payables and receivables, bank reconciliations, designated accounts, investments
  • Prepares monthly financial statements for Executive Director and Board of Directors
  • Participates in the bi-monthly Finance Committee meetings
  • Assists with preparing and drafting the annual operating budget
  • Coordinates the annual IRS 990 report

Administration

  • Compiles and reports agency statistics to stakeholders
  • Manages business operations such as equipment leases, IT, various insurances, depreciation schedules
  • Creates an inventory, orders, and maintains office supplies
  • Troubleshoots problems with equipment and other facility issues
  • Supervises the Food Systems Coordinator and the Volunteer Coordinator

HOURS: Flexible schedule required, typically Monday – Friday and one night a week, 40 hours

COMPENSATION: $45,000-$55,000. The benefits package includes Health Care, PTO, and Simple IRA.

Mobile Market Coordinator – 

JOB SUMMARY: The Mobile Market Coordinator will lead offsite market programs that are inviting and resonant for shoppers from all walks of life. This role will drive our mobile market programs, specifically addressing barriers related to mobility and transportation. The Mobile Market Coordinator will question, reflect, and adapt while working alongside a dedicated crew of staff and volunteers. This person will infuse a spirit of positivity into each day.

TYPE: Part-Time, Non-Exempt

PROGRAM AREAS: Mobile Market, Free Farmers Markets, and KidPacks

JOB DESCRIPTION

  • Champion the Mobile Market program by serving as the primary liaison between food shelf staff and mobile market shoppers, site managers, and volunteers at various locations throughout the White Bear Area
  • Coordinate, supervise, and train Mobile Market volunteers
  • Collaborate with the White Bear Area School District and coordinate the packing and distribution of KidPacks.
  • Drive and coordinate the loading and unloading of the Food Shelf Truck
  • Maintain regular upkeep of the Food Shelf Truck
  • Work alongside Food Systems Coordinator to ensure food options match shopper needs

HOURS: 20-26 hours. Flexible schedule required. Typically Tuesday thru Thursday. One night a week

JOB REQUIREMENTS

  • Capacity to meet the daily challenges of a physically demanding position (e.g. repeated lifting of over 50 pounds, on your feet majority of the day, pallet jack operation, maneuvering of heavily loaded carts)
  • Ability to drive the Food Shelf Truck
  • Dynamic individual who thrives in high-energy settings that call for flexibility and on-your-feet problem solving
  • Person of high integrity who can successfully communicate and receive ideas, questions, and challenges in a highly team-based work environment
  • Enjoys working with many types of people and serving a diverse community
  • Strong work ethic, takes initiative, self-directed
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Work includes operating in all kinds of weather
  • One to two years of nonprofit, warehouse, grocery store, or retail experience
  • Bilingual – English and Spanish preferred
  • College degree preferred

COMPENSATION: $18-$20/hour. The benefits package includes PTO and Simple IRA.
