Dear Community,
As many around the country and the world grapple with the concern of COVID-19, we at The White Bear Area Emergency Food Shelf want to ensure the well being of our neighbors, volunteers, and our community while still providing healthy food to our neighbors in need. In an effort to be a part of the solution we will be implementing the following changes to our programs:
Starting on Monday, March 16:
- All Monthly Market and Bonus Saturday shopping have been closed and any appointments will be canceled.
- Instead, prepacked To-Go bags filled with a variety of fresh, frozen, and packaged foods (like produce, milk, eggs, and bread) will be available during regular Monday-Friday shopping hours on a drive-up basis. Neighbors can access these To-Go bags weekly or as needed. There will be no need to make an appointment for this and any and every household is eligible to receive them.
- To-Go Bags Pick up Hours:
- Monday 10 am – 12:30 pm
- Tuesday 4:30 pm – 7:00 pm
- Wednesday 10 am –12:30 pm
- Thursday 4:30 pm – 7:00 pm
- Friday 10 am – 12:30 pm
- Mobile Market deliveries and Kid Packs will also be pre-packed and delivered by food shelf staff as we continue our conversations with staff at those locations.
- To-Go Bags Pick up Hours:
- All volunteer activities will be suspended, both offsite and onsite. Our volunteers do so much to make our programs possible, but we feel the best move at this time is to suspend our volunteer program. WBAEFS staff will pick up food rescue, sort delivery, and pack to-go bags.

We appreciate your patience as we make these adjustments. We are closely monitoring updates from the Centers for Disease Control and the World Health Organization and will continue to seek guidance from these agencies as well as state, county, and other local agencies.
We believe these proactive changes are the best step forward to help protect our community and also provide healthy food to our neighbors in need.
Thank you,
